Maybe you could try to do this with Black Hole Cannons..?
yes, this can be ported to black canons as well

Did a bit more work on Infinite COs today.

Here, I demonstrate some new code that allows for terrain Star Reduction. While also updating all the info boxes to support the changes in a player's terrain stars so it actually reflects how much defence they have.

Ooh, that colour palette idea is really clever.

Does it actually modify the palette by changing its colours or do you just load a different palette for each Army?

It loads the palette based on the army color for each player so palettes 1-5. I will eventually get to changing the actual palette colors so that it can be themed. Want to use it for playing against other COs in campaign and have the enemy CO have Black Hole theme colors.

Speaking of Army colours, I added a sixth color some times ago :

Now I should work on replacing HQ and Units for custom ones, but all the drawing part bothers me since I'm not good at pixel art and stuff.

Also working on a infinite CO Slots code. Well, it's probably not half as good as Xen's one, but I that's something I wanted to do myself for a long time !

show move/attack of the unit data determines whether a unit fires as a direct or indirect unit (0: support, 1: direct, 2: indirect).

Neotank with show move/attack set to 2. Cannot move and attack on the same turn.

Interesting, does the first thing works for the AI ?

And for the counterattacking stuff, does the animations also show the counterattack for indirects ?

Taelith

Re: What are YOU working on?

Post by Taelith » Sat Apr 05, 2014 10:50 am

The AI currently does not follow the move/attack direct/indirect but I will try to update that in the future. The animation shows the attacker taking damage, while the defender indirect doesn't show the firing animation. The Neotank shown above does show the firing animation though.

Lash's COP is annoying Adder: 120% defense isn't exactly easy to deal with...
What's it gonna be on forests, like, (65*0.6=) 39%?

Image
Too bad, diminishing returns, kid!

It still ended up badly for Adder, though. (his infantry lost 6 to 4)

All of that thanks to my first assembly code ever! Available here.

This all looks sick. Im working on a war room hack with extra units, maps, cos ect. I can edit graphics add maps, use hex and nightmare2 just figured how to add units but, I cannot find a way to edit the names of added units I can only use exsisting ones.
And as for custom co powers ive read I need to do assembly. How do I do this and with what? Xenesis could you mabye post a patch for your unit veterancy hack and for the re-build hack as they would make the ge that bit more awsome.

This tiles changement is a splendid idea, I'll probably end doing the same thing. Nice job.

Ok sounds good. Do you know how to give units separate names though. Ive added nullid0c and he is fully functional but his name is tank which I would like to make rail gun. And is it possible to edit a null units r screen info, I looked in the hex coding and armips but cant find a solution.

-edit-
Added 5 new units to the game :D
1.Sniper can shoot ranged and direct (direct if he's standing next to an enemy) 1,2 range and costs 3500. 5 ammo
2.Mortar weaker than artillery by 10 and cost 4500. range: 4,5. 4 ammo
3.Anti-Tank can shoot 2,3 for very good damage against tanks, but only against tanks cant attack anything else costs 7500 3 ammo.
4.Nuclear sub (cant dive trying to figure out how) cost 40000 and has 4,5 range nearly instantly kills anything but has 1 ammo and is slow.
5.The holy rail gun, can move only one space per turn but can fire 9,10 and deals huge damage to everything costs 60000 however and has only 3 ammo very good support but needs defending and cash.
Now just to add there names to the shop...

Added several more special skill bits involving terrain this time. Implemented the -1, -2, -3 Enemy Terrain Stars (-3 is given if you set both -1 and -2 bits). Also -1 Terrain Stars on plains to go with +1 range in Woods for someone who likes cover and not open fields. and finally the swap terrain stars which allows you to swap stars with your opponent. If both attacker and defender have this skill, then the attack will use the normal terrain stars.

In addition I also made it possible to give each co for normal, power and super modes bonus attacks on any of the 16 terrains you can attack from.

Here is adder in normal mode with 10% attack bonus on roads.

Zone bonusses are modulables depending of the CO, but defaults are the same than AW4.

Only Killing a unit in the zone makes you gain one star.

Still working on making AI use it more efficiently.

Big thanks to Xenesis who code the original CO Zone Routine, that I almost recoded for my needs, half of this work is thanks to him.

@ Xenesis: I had a lot of half-finished disorganized files lying about from awhile ago. Just recently got into thumb asm, so been trying to get all my old ideas into working shape.

@ Lambda: Nice Job! looks good.

Just finished working on dynamic minimum range. This hack was really more difficult than it would seem. For now minimum range decreases/increasing with maximum range bonus. Will add the ability to change it individually later. The AI follows the limits of the minimum range when attacking.

Andy attacking Max who has range 1~2 on his artillery. Andy takes no counterattack from battle. Counterattack flag is not set on indirects.

Little thing I just did on a whim. Desactive terrain info panel & R screen on fogged tile and also disable scrolling during AI turn so that you can't know where they are.

Now I'm working on a mode that randomize absolutely everything, ennemy CO, map, settings and disable GUI when AI plays. So basically you just start in the total black and you don't know where you are, what you are affronting and where your opponent is hiding !
