Don't worry. It's not that bad.
But hacking isn't something you learn overnight. You should see what the hackers go through to just make a single breakthough in altering the game.

Yeah..figuring out all this stuff took a few months..and we're still not all the way where we want to be yet.

Anyway, if you want to hack, you need three basics: A hex editor, a copy of the US AW2 Rom, and lots of patience.

Get familiar with altering in game text. Use the search function to help fiddle around with things. Change 'Meteor Strike' to 'Banana Bomb' or something like that. Edit profiles and learn how they work. It's the best starting point.

Also, read the old hacking research thread, (Link in the new hacking research thread). It'll explain a bit too.

Uh, Google?

I don't know PC Hex editors very well, considering I use a mac.

Well, Zophar.net has a couple of Hex Editors for DOS/Windows. I personally use Hex Workshop, but that's a shareware program.

I've been asked to teach many people to hack, after I released my product pictures...

You aren't going to be able to put your broken COs in the game for several reasons.

1. If you make infantry tire units, they can't cross mountains....

2. I'm too lazy to list the other reasons.

Basically we can do what exists in AW2 and change it slightly, you can have any firepower/defense rise/fall. As for speciality powers black storm etc, we can change weather and damage. We can also nerf the meteor, that was a beautiful breakthrough.

We can change Gold Rush but only to certain values. There are other things we can do but thats the basics... IS are LAZY that is a fact....

We can also mess with Sensei's CO Powers. That was funny.

Battleship drop was hilarious, especially in a landlocked map.

Copter Drop is also funny.

Gwhahaha.

That does get me thinking, however....how can we modify the HP of the units that are dropped?

I wanted to do that and see if I could limit the number of properties it does this on...
