Delta Land CCOs - Orange Star Army

Post by Airnike » Wed Aug 04, 2010 8:21 am

I'll introduce the five COs of the "main" army of the game: Orange Star
1- Shin
2- Michel
3- Jill
4- Enrick
5- Cody

First, Shin.

Name: Shin Gosen
Faction/Army: Orange Star Army :os:

A young samurai who keeps most of his past veiled. He recently took his parts of the Gosenkai with his 18th anniversary, and uses it to oppose Akuma, his brother, and his revived Black Hole.
:hit: Shakuhachi sounds, sword fighting
:miss: Sumo fights
"It's in the destiny of our family to make people suffer."

Description: He's a very little boy, with a-little-more-than-shoulder-length darkred hair. He wears a white shirt and a white hakama with a stripe motive. In fact, he's Koal's grandson, and as such doesn't care of how many people's demise he causes to win. He's a warrior and a scholar near as much as Koal is, but he speaks more normally due to his friendship with Michel, his former bodyguard, now commander-in-chief of Orange Star.
-Personality: Not very talkative at first sight, he is a businessman, and as such considers himself to be superior. Resigned to live an eternal war, he seems to take battles as theater acts.

-History: The history happens in Delta Land, colonized by the Allied Nations 2 years after DS. However, the colons there entered a 6-year war, resulting in the four nations completely devasted... Shin is born eight years later. His birthplace is in a region that always was disputed between Yellow Comet and Orange Star. He is the son of Shigen Gosen, a corrupt corporate tyrant who was in charge of the main industry production group, the Gosenkai. He grew up in his twin brother Akuma's shadow, because Akuma was the oldest. He was overtrained in spying and lived nocturnally, so he developed a sharper acuity, but he was also hit by photophobia. When he was 12, his father got killed. Akuma therefore got total control over the Gosenkaï and so was the most powerful man in the whole Delta Land. Shin was set to get his parts when 18, and Akuma chose one of his "friends" to help him to manage the Gosenkaï. The decisions of the industry group went completely heartless and without conscience. Shin, acknowledging a Black Hole revival, and seeing his younger brother Karano becoming a child soldier, betrayed Akuma by wrecking the operations he was assigned to, and changing side to Orange Star.
At the end of the first Delta Land War, he left the Orange Star Army, defied Akuma in a sword fight he lost.
He was reported missing until his return at the beginning of the second Delta Land War, where he serves under the Orange Star flag again. After Akuma's final defeat, Shin fought him, and got almost killed, swordstabbed in the stomach.
He returns in the third Delta Land War and allied with Kane, a former enemy in the Delta Land 2nd war, to find and defeat Akuma. They succeeded and Shin and Akuma teamed up then to defeat the cause of the third Delta Land War, Von Volt. But a dark spirit was consuming his mind for three years, since the beginning of the first Delta Land War, born by Luna, the Orange Star Military Leader for the two first Delta Land wars. Shin repelled the spirit he called "Kijin" that turned to materialize itself as a woman. He fought her and managed to make her leave. His 18th birthday was the next day, and he claimed back his own parts of the Gosenkaï, using it with no remorse to oppose his brother.

CO's Theme: http://www.tekken.eu/tekkenforces/musiq ... lusion.mp3 Take the title as "A Legacy of inflicting Pain" instead of "Conclusion". Can be changed to http://www.tekken.eu/tekkenforces/musiq ... Island.mp3, change the title to "Ringings of Truth".

No. His boost works even if he's not in Fog of War.
He does not need to be hidden to get his bonus from hiding places.
Even if his day-to-day piercing vision makes him better in Fog of War, of course, he will do the work on forested maps...

Seems more like a Yellow Comet CO than an Orange Star one...that said, you might need to increase the cost for his SCOP. Forests are fairly common, even if reefs aren't, and going 170/100 in them is pretty phenomenal. Piercing vision (I assume you mean he can see into forests and reefs in Fog of War) is also something of a wonky thing to have D2D - even Sonja, the Fog of War specialist, only gets it during her powers. Especially given his powers are supposed to be granting him superior vision, I'd switch some of it around. Either give him forestwalking as his D2D main benefit and drop his standard forests/reefs benefit to 10%, or remove the forestwalking and his defense penalty - the latter option basically makes him Woods Jake. Have both his powers grant him the ability to see into forests and reefs, along with the pump to his attack benefit and the +1 vision on his SCOP.

You made me notice I forgot to tell you about his birth place...
He's born in a OS-YC border region... In fact noone knows if he isn't born in Yellow Comet rather than Orange Star...
By forestwalking, you mean ignoring movement penalties in forests?
Well, I would prefer him to look like a "forest Koal", except movement gets reverted in vision.

And the day-to-day piercing vision is something I want to keep in, because of him being twin brother with a boss CO who has perfect movement.
Well, his forest boost maybe is high, but he doesn't have day-to-day easy access to his 20% boost.
I agree with you in the power perfect movement has combined with a forest boost, so I'll try to reduce his SCOP forest boost...
I will rethink stats, but I want him to be more powerful than Lash on forests, which he isn't already: (Shin: 120/110 Lash: 110/120.)
I don't think he's day-to-day overpowered.

Re: Delta Land CCOs : CCO Shin

Post by Mallow » Thu Aug 05, 2010 6:19 am

Okay, then if we're going for Woods Koal, then let's take a look at Koal's stats for a baseline:
:skill: All units are 100/100, all units get +10% firepower on roads.
:power: All units get +1 movement and an additional +10% firepower on roads, for a total of going 130/110 on roads this turn.
:super: All units get +2 movement and an additional +20% firepower on roads, for a total of going 140/110 on roads this turn.

As you've said, you want Shin to outperform Lash in woods. This is going to be somewhat difficult, since woods are one of Lash's favorite territories, second only to cities. She goes 110/120 D2D in them, and since +10 is the standard D2D benefit for a common terrain type like plains or roads, it's hard to particularly outperform her. Jake and Koal do by virtue of having 100/100 units and favoring terrains with fewer defense stars for Lash to take advantage of, putting her at only 105/110 compared to Jake's 110/110 on plains and a flat 100/100 compared to Koal's 110/100 on roads.

That said, on the other end of the spectrum, we have Kindle. Kindle gets a rather stellar 140/130 on cities, easily outperforming Lash's 115/130. Under COP she's 190/140, and under SCOP she's 240/140, with an additional +3 for every city she owns. Like Jake and Koal, she's perfectly vanilla on other terrain types except under SCOP. The disadvantage is that cities are not as common on most maps as plains or roads are. In this case, forests provide a natural disadvantage of restricting the movements of most ground units.

That in mind, if you want to outperform Lash in woods, which is reasonable, you should shake off the defense penalty so that he's got vanilla units outside of woods and goes 120/120 in his specialty, trumping Lash's 110/120. With that, you can probably keep that he sees into woods during Fog of War. With this in mind, a reasonable COP is to ignore forest movement penalties (rather than universal negation of movement penalties), an additional +20% in woods, and +1 vision. This puts him for a turn at 150/130 in woods and 110/110 elsewhere. For an SCOP, do the same except woods bonus is now up to a total of +40%, and +2 vision. This puts him at 160/130 in woods for a turn, with +2 vision, ability to see into woods and reefs, and no movement penalty in woods. That's fairly well dominant in the terrain type for 5 stars.

I really like your advice... and I could immediately take it and make Shin like that at the very true moment I'm writing.

However, there's my DL-set. In which all characters shall have 2-star-worth strengths and (a) one-star-worth weakness(-es).
The 2-star-worth strengthes are : Piercing vision (1), +20% hiding place offense (1)
The "Gosen family weakness" being this 90% base defense, I can't remove it because giving Akuma straight perfect movement with no weakness is overpowered.
Thinking back on this could make me change COs created by other persons. I gotta see things with them...

Later, and my best feelings to you, Mallow.

Well, now Shin is well in his place, let's focus on Michel.

Michel Hauser
Orange Star Army :os:

Former bodyguard of Luna, and Shin after her, he unveiled Luna's plot to take Delta Land. That graded him up to commander-in-chief of Orange Star forces.
"I can't show weakness."
:hit: Boxing, honest people
:miss: Spying tactics

-Description: Michel is a bold-headed, big, muscular black guy. He often wears his military uniform. But he prefers sport suits.
-Personality: Michel is most of the time confident. But he's a careful man who lets nothing in the hands of luck. Being a professional boxer on top of his military responsibility, he is known to always give everything he's got. He's maybe a little violent and impulsive, but he's more of a rational person.

-History: Michel is born in a rich background. He quickly became a friend of Rudolf, another heir of a mass production factory chain. But life began to be hard with Michel's eighteenth birthday. He was expelled from home. He knew the same thing was gonna happen to Rudolf, so he awaited his friend. Both left and lived depending on the others, working only to be fed. This turned bad one day, when they wanted to rob military rations in a nearby military base. Michel accidentally triggered an alarm. He asked Rudolf to leave, for himself only to get captured. Rudolf completely vanished. Michel spent three entire years in prison, and got out to be registered in the army by force by Luna. There he spent his whole life, growing faithful in the goodness of Orange Star. Enrick acknowledged the situation and, being aware of Michel's roots, proposed him to associate. Enrick promoted Michel and Michel promised money and constant reporting. Michel came to become a well-respected CO, even if he sometimes forgot work to see if Rudolf came back home, or heard about him. Every of his attempts to find his former friend failed. The first Delta Land War saw him being the only reliable Orange Star CO.
Jill was constantly nervous and nearly paranoiac, Luna went mad, and Shin, the newcomer, was thought to be in fact a Black Hole double agent, Jill mistaking him for Koal. Michel found it to be false, accompanying him in the Green Earth rebellion when Jill left both of them to avoid them being killed. He held Akuma in the 1st Delta Land war's final battle.
At the beginning of the second Delta Land war, Shin told him about his origins. Michel forced Jill to silence, but Cody, her boyfriend, told Luna about it. He found out Rudolf to be part of the Black Hole Army, and saw Rudolf's father burnt to death. Thinking it was Rudolf's black deed, he enraged and defeated him two times. As Luna took the "final" battle, Michel wasn't able to see Rudolf again. He only came up to see Shin getting "killed" by Akuma, whom he fought bare-hand. Kane cut the fight by almost killing Akuma. Though he saw Rudolf following Kane, he was too exhausted to say even a word...
He had no role in the third Delta Land War, dealing with Luna's plot against Enrick. He was the one who imprisoned her. But he went with a revived Shin when they heard about Akuma being free. Even though Michel didn't participate in the battle, he asked Kane where Rudolf could be, but Rudolf just had betrayed him. Michel now looks for Rudolf...

Well, no comment for Michel.
Hey there... anyone?
Time for another CO I hope to awake some people.

Jill Redsand
Orange Star Army :os:

The upright commander of the Orange Star Special Forces. She always calculates when fighting. She does not stop at exceeding laws for her country.
"Number 1 rule: keep your cool."

:hit: Serious people, well-thought plans.
:miss: Power-hunger.

-Description: She's most of the time in her schoolgirl uniform because she grew attached to it. She's of average height with mid-long dark brown hair.

-Personality: Always calculating her next action according to what is better for her (and for Orange Star occasionally).

-History: Rumored to be of Adder's illegitimate descendance, she does know nothing about it because she's an orphan, raised in another family, her "adoptive" father being the radical Admiral Blackreef. She calculates everything she can in her life and worked hard to get what she wanted. She entered the Northern Star Military Academy, the top-of-the-line military school in the Delta Land branch of Orange Star, when aged 15, and spent a year in the United Military School, until it broke up. She graded up to CO when aged 19. During this time, she engaged with Cody, her mentor's grandson.
Her first real missions were given her with the first Black Hole attack. She repelled Blue Moon off the Orange Star frontiers and allied with Ben to catch Akuma. This alliance was destroyed by Luna, who ordered Jill's squad to destroy Ben. Jill captured Luna shortly afterwards, but Luna evaded and took command back. Jill was sent to die in Yellow Comet with Shin and Michel, but she left them to die alone. She was rescued by Cody, who commanded Orange Star in interim at this moment. Jill then took a vacation to avoid being ordered to suicide once again.
The second Delta Land war saw her fight Sandy and Kane. Focused on them, she fought alongside with Ami in Yellow Comet. She spent her time looking out to a possible error from Luna, but didn't find any.
The third Delta Land war didn't really bother her because she was, with Michel's major help, getting Luna fired for putting her plot against Enrick on the storyline. Jill bodyguarded Ami for Francis when the latter fought Frank.
Jill played a major role in Luna's family's expulsion when they were condemned to exile by Enrick. When Dana fired on Cody, she chased her and made her leave.

CO's Theme (optional):http://www.tekken.eu/tekkenforces/musiq ... liport.mp3, change the title to "Special Forces in Operation".
Can be changed to http://www.tekken.eu/tekkenforces/musiq ... enezia.mp3, change the title to "Learn to Feel".

Michel ~ Do you know what numbers result from 110/110 and x0.75 counters? The CO Powers are simple stat bonuses but they have nearly the same impact. Consider ways to differentiate the two; what match-ups are affected by the numbers you wish to run? If the only difference is turning a two hit knockout against submarines into a one hit, you should probably adjust the numbers for better coverage.

Jill ~ The CO Powers are simple stat bonuses but the Super is merely an upgrade of the Power. The same could technically be said of the above. Consider ways to differentiate the two, especially when the two are two or three stars apart. As an example at the conceptual level, I would consider Andy the simplest canon precedent: his day to day is bland, his Power offers quick healing, and his Super offers healing augmented with a firepower and movement boost. You don't need to go Sonja or Rachel here or else the classically trained commentators will get upset, but do think about what options you want your COs to have and how practical they could be.

I know he kept near 80% counters.
I changed Michel according to his "rich" origins. He now fares well with cities.
For Jill, I added a bonus movement (though it is restricted to her most useful units, the ground ones) and adjusted the power.

The most of it is in Shin's bio.
But for those who don't know, there are forty entire years between DS and DL1. This means 45 years between DS and DL4.
The "old school peeps", if they're Andy & Co. are not around, except one time in the canonical story, because the Delta Land Orange Star branch enters a war with the Allied Nations of Omega Land. There are five "new" Allied COs that are going to be posted waaay later.

Ha, kevin.

Still, it might be helpful if there was an overview or streamlined version of all the fluff. Walls of text can be forboding to many people and they don't make very good hooks. Have you outlined a plan or script for your purposes?

Also, I was referring to the stats. It appears a mix of Kindle and Hawke with general stat boosts. Frankly, general boosts are rather boring. It might be more practically and thematically sound to have a bonus on roads and cities, being that those terrain can both be said to be urban, rather than a general boost with a specialized boost tacked on.

If you want all the drama, well, you're gonna have it.
The Calendar is based on the Delta Land Colonization.

Year 2 before colonization: Von Bolt is defeated in Omega Land.
Year 0: The Allied Nations confront another evil army, named Grey Cosmos. They find Delta Land, and use its tremendous resources to push back and defeat Grey Cosmos. Black Hole is disbanded by Hawke, and Adder disappears with the latter. The Delta Land Colonization begins, under the direction of three main personalities: Enrick, a former banker from Orange Star reconverted in military, Shung, a talented and relentless Green Earth soldier who graded up during the Grey Cosmos Wars, and Hideaki, who interrupted his study to save his native land Yellow Comet. Duke Von Volt uses his private income from the Allied Nations (due to the huge amount of money he loaned them) to become the number 1 industry in Delta Land.
Year 3 after colonization: Ben, a strange man from the Blue Moon borders, joins the colons in Delta Land. However, there are only badlands to be taken by him at the time.
Year 9 after colonization: Territory struggles result in a great war in the whole Delta Land between four factions: Enrick's Orange Star, Ben's Blue Moon, Shung's Green Earth, and Hideaki's Yellow Comet. Hideaki and Enrick quickly corner Ben in the northeaster side of Delta Land. Shung expands Green Earth but is driven back by Enrick. To avoid a major counter attack, he destroys the Stonegreen Bridge that links Orange Star and Green Earth, forcing them to go around the Stonegreen Lake.
Year 13 after colonization: Hideaki tries to end the so-called Old Wars by training another CO. Shung, however, learnt about Hideaki's trick, and grades his son Qiang up to CO. Green Earth undermines the other countries. Enrick answers by promoting his brother along with his niece Luna COs. However, a sandstorm in Blue Moon kills Enrick's brother. Luna is upset and attacks restlessly and berserk all over Delta Land. Hideaki is kicked out of the Major Island.
Year 14 after colonization: Nibaï is graded up to CO by Hideaki and defeats both Luna and Shung. The conflict is hopeless, and Hideaki tries the diplomatic solution.
Year 15 after colonization: Hideaki and Enrick seal a non-attack treaty. nibai meets Qiang, but this meeting ends in nothing sure. Ben declares to be ready to make peace with everyone. Luna and Shung ally themselves and try to attack Yellow Comet, but Qiang and Nibaï stop them by declaring Green Earth and Yellow Comet allied. To build a viable friendship, Qiang meets Nibaï in Yellow Comet many times. Delta Land is in peace.
Year 20 after colonization: In Omega Land, the "Blackboulage War" is engaged between the United Nations (new name of the Allied Nations) and Kindle, who refuses them to unite. Many COs get killed, but Kindle's Black Hole is finally defeated.
Years 22 to 25 after colonization: Back to Delta land, Shung is intended to go to war again. But the politicals force him to silence, and he retires before his reputation tarnishes. Qiang understands his father's trick, and as the absolute commander of Green Earth, banishes the leader of the radical party, Josef Miselic, by accusing him of plotting a putsch against him. In Yellow Comet, Nibaï becomes legitimately leader of Yellow Comet; but, as the father of a little Ami, he doesn't really enjoy his tasks. In Orange Star, Enrick becomes a banker again, and a great economic boom begins. Luna, now in charge of the Orange Star Army, builds the Northern Star Military Academy. She disappears from the screens, consumed by her hatred against Ben, who himself seems to be retired. He was actually training his disciple, Konrad Windwalker. But the latter, bored of the constant hardship, turned against Ben and got killed by him.
Year 31 after colonization: The Gosenkaï, another industrial group, grows quickly, absorbs other enterprises, and quickly dethrone the Volt Conglomerate in terms of industrial power. Its activities expand to the whole Delta Land, excluding Orange Star.
Year 36 after colonization: The head of the Gosenkaï, Shigen Gosen, dies, stabbed in the stomach. His son takes his place, supported by a mysterious man.
Year 40 after colonization: "First Delta Land War".
Year 42 after colonization: "Second Delta Land War".
Year 43 after colonization: "Third Delta Land War".
Year 45 after colonization: "Fourth Delta Land War".

Do you know when I was an OP player? When I wasn't in WWN and massclaims were legit good? Yea I miss the days I could force town to claim, rout out the mafia, and win the game for free day 3. Sometimes without being killed!
Senpai HPD notices me everyday when I'm town, do no scum play, and still get lynched day 1.
Anyway, it's time to go and ask people to claim and go lynch those who don't with my high-skill OP role.

I'm not a playwright.
I think you have enough history elements.

What is your audience supposed to do with history elements?

I just don't get the sense that this stands out from all the others that have come before.

Yes, you're right. This comes more from the Gosenkaï's activities.
Being originally a weaponry factory, the Gosenkaï is created in Delta Land in year 18 after-colonization. It becomes rich in Omega Land with the "Blackboulage War". It comes back so richer that it comes to ransom other groups, and becomes the number one industry in Delta Land. But its CEO, Shingen Gosen, dies years later, stabbed in the stomach by Koal's sword. This results in his first son being the future heads of the Gosenkaï. But Akuma and Shin are twins, and both only 11 years old. Akuma being considered the older of the two, he gets advised by a mysterious partner while he temporarily leads the mighty industry group. Akuma tends to drive the Gosenkaï further in the path of war. When Shin hears about a Black Hole revival, he documents himself in everything that is linked to this project and joins his operations as a lieutenant, intended to betray him and join his enemies for enough time to get his own parts at his 18th birthday. During his attack in Orange Star, Shin destroys the Northern Star Military Academy, and kills Admiral Blackreef, one of the Orange Star main figures. But just before reaching the Orange Star HQ, he kills the little squad that accompanied him, and tries to infiltrate the Orange Star HQ to tell the highest-graded persons as soon as possible. There, the First Delta Land War begins...

During the first Delta Land War, Green earth got a major change in command: Axel putsched Qiang. The Delta Land War ended with Akuma fleeing with Koal's help. But two years later, Sturm revives in Macro Land, while all the factions of Delta Land are attacked by Black Hole, that is under the direction of another Lord, known as Kane, and his mysterious underlings. The Allied Nations, facing Sturm in Macro Land, change their Delta Land workforce, and slowly but surely put Orange Star under pressure.

During the second Delta Land War final battle, Kane burnt Akuma and fled. Akuma captured, the Nations of Delta Land are surprised by the completely new Black Hole attacking, completely different in acting... And it seems Kane rebels against his new commander. But Black Hole as always cornered a perturbated Orange Star back to the wall...

The third Delta Land War events are going later...

Well, screw this section, I'm revamping all the Delta Land storyline...
Fifty COs was too much, many will be erased, and I'll come back with more balanced (I hope) COs...
