Foreword: This is my first post here and I am still a newbie to this "forum" thing. Advance Wars remains as my favorite game, in spite of all the cooler games that hit the market. It is simple, yet fun to play. You can say that I am obsessed with it and been playing it for hours in a day. Some folks do not understand my obsession and that's how I came across to this forum. I've been looking for years for people who has the same passion. I know, dreaming of making custom COs for years are not all for naught.
So here we are.

Zeus is only one of my 30+ CCO ideas. I hope that you like him.

As with all my ideas, nothing is final here. Everything is changeable. I hope with your help we can make him a viable CO.

Theme: Anti-Aircraft Warfare. Rain. Lightning. Thunder.

Bio:
Zeus(a thunder/lightning based CO) is the brother of __________( has no name yet - a wind based CO) and both of them are from Red Planet(another country in the Advance Wars world).

At a young age, he learned to hate flying things after watching a horrifying alien film. He joined the army and specializes in Anti Aerial Warfare to keep his country safe from aliens. He believes that one day they will come from the skies, not knowing that they are already here and one of them tried to destroy the planet twice. :lol:

He can be introduce as "A loud CO from Red Planet who hates flying objects and wants to tear them down from the skies."

(I am not finish with his background yet. But in my general plan for my CCOs. I want to set them in the current timeline and world of the advance wars series, just after the events of the Dual Strike. I haven't played the AW:DS yet but I have read much about it. So there might be some inconsistency story-wise with my CCOs background.)


:skill: As an anti-aircraft warfare specialist, he boasts of his anti-air units such as, :osantiair: Anti-Airs, :osmissile: Missiles, :oscruiser: Cruisers, :oscarrier: Carriers and to some extent :osbcopter: Battle Copter, :osfighter: Fighters, and :osstealth: Stealths.

All of his Anti Air units units +20/+10.
Other units capable of attacking Air units receive the same +20/+10 bonus when attacking Air Units.
But his hate for flying objects makes him not very good at using Air units. His Air units suffers -30/-10 penalty to their attack and defense.

Explanation: I know that sounds stupid but let me explain it first. His air units will be 70/100 by default but when they are attacking other air units, they will be at 90/100.

His Anti-Air units receive another +20/0 bonus, and his other units capable of attacking air units receive +10/10 bonus against air units. Other units receive +0/10.

Upon activation, Lightning will rain down from the sky, targeting 5 different enemy units, dealing 3HP damage.
Another 3 different enemy units will be struck down, dealing 3HP damage.
His Anti-Air units receive another +30/0 bonus, and his other units receive +0/10 bonus against air units.
Default +10/+10 to all units.

Explanation: Lightning will prioritize 1.Air Units, 2.Expensive Units, 3.High Units. 4.Units with Higher HP. 5.others
If there's a tie, like when there are more than two bombers, lightning will strike at the bomber with higher HP and so on.


Interactions:

He can tag with his Brother (a wind themed Co) has no name as of yet.
He has negative Tag with Eagle. They can be Rivals. :)

Time to put on my CCO-rating hat!

His backstory is completely laughable. An alien film he watched as a kid shaped his entire life.
He has a bunch of likes that would be hard to fit in an AW2 datasheet, but you're talking DS, so yeah.

He's not the first anti-air CO around. And frankly, he seems very unbalanced. The standard for boosts in general (especially in DS) is 120/100. (+20/+0).
120/110 not only on AA units, but on any combat against an air unit is frankly strong. You likely aimed to beat Eagle, but bigger isn't always better as far as balance goes.
70/90 air units is bad. Drake gets 90/100, and that's his weakness. Larger penalties are usually not to be considered, especially with a design this simple.

"Help me come up with a name"? You could at least say "please". We're not supposed to be the ones making your CCO.
Too many different boosts, which makes the ability for over-stacked for what is really just a stat boost COP. Seems you've also not considered the default CO Power boosts (+10/+10) to attack and defense.
Anti-air units are basically 150/120, "other units capable of attacking air units" get 140/130 (for some reason they get an extra defense boost and NOT the anti-air units which are his specialty), and other units are 110/120 (80/110 for air units unless they're attacking other air units, which makes them 90/120).
3 stars is a bit strong for this stuff.

You can say that 8 lightning bolts strike enemy units. It's basically the same.
His anti-air units are now at 160/120, and other units for some reason just gain +0/+10 when fighting air units this time. Oh, you took the defaults into account this time.
Rank: :b: Kind of inconsistent with all the COP's boosts, a bit of weirdness in the name and description.

:brank: For a first CCO, this is okayish. You made a newbie mistake thinking more is always better. Balance doesn't work out this way, and the CO is far from unique.
My advice would be to reduce both the range of situations his boosts shine in and his weaknesses.


Frankly I have 50+ CCOs, so I could care less about this guy.
But I'll give you my idea of what he should be.
:skill: : +20% offense when fighting air units. Air units have -10% offense.
Keeping the traditional theme of 120/100 on the CO's strong suit and 90/100 on the CO's weakness, we get this. Simple and efficient. Air units even get 110/100 when attacking other air units.

Keeping back to the base gauge. This CO's real claim to fame is his SCOP and you want that thing handy.

:power: : +20% offense when attacking air units. If for an attack against an air unit, units can move 1 extra space.
It's a simple thing. I'm keeping the power a bit down, but giving an extra oomph to mobility in case you want to bitchslap air units, because you will need that speed boost to catch up. It's streamlined a lot from the normal, which required too much number-crunching.

:super: : 8 Lightning bolts strike enemy units, each dealing 3 HP damage to the target. Bolts strike to deal the most expensive amount of damage, but prioritize air units over any other units. No 2 lightning bolts in a row may damage the same target.
Stripping off all the useless features. The interesting thing here is the lightning. I kept any and all boosts off because potential mass damage is pretty overpowered.

Hi Airnike! First of all thanks for taking a look and for even making a comprehensive study.

When I am designing my CCO I'm basing it on AW2. So yeah I copy-pasted what I posted there here. Sorry about that. I know it's a bit wordy my original post that is but I'm working on it as of this late so perhaps you might want to take a look at it again once I am finished. I'm totally considering your suggestions so let's see.
