Seriously like 99% of people that are not from BHHQ would like to have thier maps recognized and used.

If they got a problem with it we'll just remove it BUT IT PROBABLY WOULD BE VERY RARE
and release it in an "3rd party package by an anonymous interneter >_>"

fdsagsdgad the only reason I can think of why they dont want us using it is they are an annoying 12-year old and/or they just hate us.

Some of the cool ones are in my Ember Hack.

donnyton wrote:That's the thing: we can't even give them credit without defeating the purpose of it. The reason I made a converter was to convert large amounts of maps at the same time (as in, thousands every second) so we wouldn't have to copy paste into the Map Editor of CW every time.

The problem is, even if we give credit they can still come back and say "hey! i didn't allow this to be released! delete it from your source and from everybody else's game!" because supposedly AWN policy states its their intellectual property.

Personally, I think that's complete BS, as 1. IT'S A MAP SHARING SITE. This isn't TV shows or pirated music. It's a collection of tiles, gosh. 2. AWN is a map sharing site. I mean, almost every map can be downloaded just by clicking a button. In effect, the map's already distributed to the public there. Why can't we use it? 3. Nobody takes their maps that seriously, and even if they did, they've got serious problems.

In addition, most of the best maps have inactive uncontactable authors, so a lot of good maps from a long time ago can't be used ideally.
What are they going to do if they get pissed that we used one of their maps? Call the police? The maps are in fact using Nintendo's and IS's graphics.

As long as we give credit for them coming up with the design map, then it will be fine. If one user becomes bitichy about the use of their map and threaten to shut down Custom Wars then just remove it and tell him to feck off.

In fact I started to make some decent 2P maps. :D

That's the thing, I'm not in the authority to just whisk them away. I mean, theoretically they can't do anything about it, but if we can avoid offense and revolt, then we will. I'm still arguing that AWN maps are ours to take, though.

And what would be CD and CS, if I may ask?

CS = Copper Sun
CD= Cobalt Drift

Their are two non-approved armies that are there just to fill in the last two spots until we have 2 approved armies. It basically means that you can't make maps with the penguin army or with the brown "my hq is a bee hive" army, no biggie.

CD is still 'in' because we never actually had a vote on it.

It was a temporary placeholder for the 10th slot until we actually vote one in.

actually, voting is currently being held for it here: http://www.customwars.com/viewtopic.php?t=5379

Also, as an extra army, there are no COs for it, and never will be.

Note the sexy future CO select screen:

To delete COs you have to edit numerous parts of the code (because, as awesome as it is, CW's code is far messier than even my own personal coding) and then you have to recompile it with something. Quite a hassle at the present...

Changes:
New CO Select Screen!
Program Icon
CO Power Cost Limits
made CTRL+LEFT/RIGHT = </>
put HQs in CO Select background
Random CO Select (press C while over NO CO)
Unit Bans
Oozium can be built if unbanned
Default Bans (CW,AWDS,AW2,AW1,No Bans,All Bans)
Battle Background added
fixed display problem with units in transports

NEW KEYS IN CO SELECT
< and > - Change Army
C - CO Dossier (changed from >) (random CO select if over NO CO)
and don't forget A - Alt Costume

NOTICE: I just found out that changing versions will make your old server games invalid! It won't damage them, but it won't be able to play them either. If your server games suddenly stop working after a version change, try it with the old version before putting a topic on Testing. Just keep an old copy of CW around until you don't have any games left with that version.

The CO Select is not quite done yet, but it's still better than the old one.

Changes:
-Crude animation - explosions, silo launch (This is really bad, actually. I need Xaif to transparentify it), and power/superpower. No tags.
-Try it out and tell me how badly it lags. On my computer, with several programs up, explosions have a half-second delay. Also, the screens last too long. >_>
-Some color filter stuff for superpower animations.
-noSupply and noRepair are booleans in Unit that can cause the unit to be unable to be supplied or repaired.
-enemyCOStore now switches properly when a CO switches -- I think.
-There are some extra stuff floating around, I'm just too tired right now to delete the code.
-Server Games Overhaul!
-Player Elimination and Game Completion
-Map Name and Comment and other extra information available on list.pl
-Server-side improvements
-Other improvements
-minor bugfixes
7 COs added
--Artemis
--Robo-Andy
--Aira
--Tempest
--Rattigan
--Napoleon
--Koshi (best enjoyed with Music ON!) 8D
-Added THM's latest CO archive despite the fact that I don't like half the sprites. THANK YOU A KEY oh wait noooooooo D:
-Alterations to BattleScreen.java - that's all Vimes' work and whatnot but as the gamer you wouldn't care as long as meant you'd be able to enjoy SEVEN NEW COS 8D
-Added Sanjuro
-Added Xavier (Thanks Coconut Tank!)
-Julia SCOP star increased to 8
-Julia COP effect now correct
-Aria's COP decreased to 3
-Edward's COP's only reduces costs to 85% now.
-Mary's SCOP now correctly reduces defense
-Mary's power no longer provides default defense boosts
-Amy's stats are updated, but not actually tested. <_<
-Peter's SCOP works correctly
-Talyx is...going to be changed. I'm not touching him.
-Nana's powers also affects her indirects.
-Implemented unit-specific cost multipliers
-Implemented unit-specific perfect movement
-Added unit-specific attack and defense penalties.
-Repairmod changed so it's not retarded (called when a unit is repaired, no longer a price modification)
-Delete works.
-You can "psuedo-skip" animations by hitting the assigned B button key.
-Adam
-Walter
-Joey
-some minor fixes to server games
-new sprite sheets

Basically this release wasn't my doing, but rather the doing of the other coders over the last month...and what I just did was the long and boring job of cleaning up everything.

btw, MG...I couldn't figure out how to reactivate AI...let's talk about it some time tomorrow.

I was thinking of releasing tomorrow with some features I was planning (and the AI), but I decided the testing it would go through over the next day or two would be better.

I'm ready to start working on new stuff now though. So I don't think this release will last very long as the newest release.

Basically, I plan to have checksums, tag power bans, and the AI working again (including in server games) in the next release. Maybe some other stuff too.

Hmm...I think the CW community should generate some outside publicity for CW...at least get most AW communities and interests to know about it. Not only so that it's more known, but possibly because some serious programmers and more importantly, graphical designers/AI programmers may want to help out on it.

It's because CW is only a year old on competitive play.

At least we realized WTF WERE WE DOING and moving to fix them.

But it's progressed. At this point, I would rather play CW multiplayer than any AW multiplayer. If you really think about it, there could conceivably be trailers, screenshots, etc. used as publicity that would give CW enough recognition to make it the choice for competitive play (rather than *ugh* AWBW).
