...they write Famicom and Super Famicom instead of NES and SNES.

I stumbled across that site a while ago. Never before had I so felt compelled to strangle a kitten.

Pretentious people and bad tastes do not mix well.

i can't help but notice that most of the games with more than 3 stars are japanese. in his reviews he slags off western developers at every opportunity as well - i don't know what that's all about
that said he raises good points in some of these articles. the endless big-city-learnin' quotes he fills them with are a bit much, though, especially when half the time they add little to his arguments and make him look like he has to justify his position with literature

The blatant over-the-top love of the Japanese stuff and the "Western world is inferior" is half of what makes it so pretentious. <_<;
He does make some good points, I can admit. But he's as pretentious as they come. :/

It's funny because the average Japanese developer thinks they're inferior to Western ones anyway.

There is also a relatively good awdor review out there, with his major complaint being the look, he liked the cheery looks better. ( I also liked the old look better, but the units look sharper in awdor)

He certainly has a high opinion of himself.
And a very short fuse with a dirty mouth to match. Iunno, that's the internet for you. Sad little king of a sad little hill. I guess he'd call me a retard if he somehow found this post - frankly, he could use a smack upside the head. Sounds like he's sixteen years old and drunk on forum admin powers. I honestly can't say I have much respect for people who consider themselves exceptionally intelligent. More often than not the claim is either delusional or an excuse to pretend they're better than everybody else, and in either case it usually coincides with them doing nothing with this supposedly superior brain of theirs.
tldr: He's pretty full of himself.

MAN wrote:[link]
oh my. he comes off as pretty surly in his articles, but this is something else entirely. i am pretty sure the amount of rage this man gives off is a leading cause of global warming
it's a bit disappointing, actually. his opinions are more or less intelligent but he expresses them in the manner of a sociopath.

Wait, which member are you referring to, Terr? Because if you're talking about icycalm, then yes, he is a pretentious dick (The very top post on that page seems fairly reasonable in his/her tone, which is why I'm asking). I find it amusing how he tries to "correct" someone without even playing the game (and admits it).
If he's really sixteen, then it amuses me how I'm more mature than him yet am a year younger than him. I know it's arrogant of me but I think most people are more mature than him.

Judging by the post he made needlessly chewing out the other guy, I'd say it's not too hard to be more mature than him.

The most hilarious part is that he flips out about people calling arcade machines "coin eaters" when in his very 1cc article he PROVES that more Coins per person in Japan end up in arcade machines than in America. The fact that Americans "credit feed" and the the Japanese don't has nothing to do with the amount of revenue each arcade game takes.
This is not even mentioning the fact that he claims to represent the "expert opinion" when his Advance Wars review merely name-drops "deepness" and "complexity" in precisely the ways that the site writer rails against their usage. And then other reviews which invoke the usage of sequels in precisely the fashion he claims to abhor. He claims that there is no such thing as "emergent complexity from a simpler set of rules" in a video game, and whatever you can or can't do by definition is a part of said game (...which is fine enough on its own).... then he makes all judgments on the complexity/depth of a game based purely on the simpler set of rules, without taking the metagame, glitches or other "unintended" effects of a game into account.
His favorite debating technique involves finding a definition which suits him and then calling other people "absurd" for being.... well people.
Anyway, take little mind of his attitude. He's incapable of any original thought and prefers to hold little Nietzsche puppet shows for himself every night Vrrroooomm.
Oh, and of course googling stuff about him on the internet every night despite idiots supposedly not being his target demographic. Why care about what idiots i.e. us have to say or think about him? If he's right, he's right and nothing of value was lost.Anyway, I love him because he thinks he knows what quantum mechanics and evolution are. That up quarks have a will to power. That Homosexuals are inferior due to their "evolutionary unfitness". All while denouncing science as a fiction merely because, heavens forbid, people are involved.

Heh, so he might actually read this? And heck, guest post?

You're silly!
No honestly, I haven't read much of what he's wrote but hey, who the hell cares? You do, don't you?
