writin' puzzles

i wrote a puzzle today! I'm planning on making a bunch more so it's a warm up before I make something more ambitious. I'll post them in this thread as they get made in case anyone wants to try and solve them

ImageImage

note: both puzzles have the same solution, the second one just has less clues for a harder(?) solve

this one is a Kakuro puzzle, but it has a slight twist to it, so here's the rules for solving:
Place a digit from 1 to 9 in each box so that no digit repeats across a row or column. For the 2x2 boxes, the digit counts for both rows/columns it’s in. If there is a number pointing at a row or column, that number is the sum of the digits in that row/column.

here's a new puzzle in a different genre. I haven't seen a puzzle of this specific style before (although it's derived from an existing style) so I'm including a solution image

Image

puzzle rules:
Below the grid you're given a set of shapes. You must place the shapes in the grid so that no two shapes touch each other, except possibly at the corners. If a square has a dark circle, that means a shape overlaps it. If a square has a light circle, that means no shape overlaps it.

After placing all the shapes, you must be able to draw a loop that visits every unoccupied square exactly once.

ok that was a bit confusing until i looked at the solution image.

i'd rewrite this bit as " After placing all the shapes, you must be able to draw a loop that visits every empty square exactly once."

i look forward to more puzzles of that particular style tho, shape placement puzzles are my favorite

they speak to my 5 year old inner self

made a new puzzle! i'm pretty happy with how this one came out, mainly because it's the first regular sized puzzle I've made so far:
Image
it is a Fillomino puzzle. Rules:
Divide the grid along the grey lines to form regions. If a region contains a number, its area must be equal to that number. (A region can contain more than one number, but in that case it must be the same number.) Regions with the same area cannot share an edge.

in the meantime here's an easy bite size puzzle to introduce a new genre: Yajilin. rules are weird so this one comes with a solution

Image

puzzle rules:
Shade some white squares black so that no black square shares an edge with another black square, then draw a single loop that visits each remaining white cell exactly once.

Gray squares with a number and arrow indicate the number of black squares seen in that direction starting from the clue. Note: There may be black squares that do not have a clue pointing at them.

that's what the 6x6 puzzles are for you silly goose

here's today's yajilin. quick reminder: the 3 clue includes the shaded square that the 1 clue points at. don't fall for the trap!!!!

here's a new yajilin. I think it's a step up in difficulty compared to the others as it requires more forethought to eliminate certain squares as being shaded or unshaded. there's one more yajilin after this, then i'll be switching to a new puzzle style!

welcome to the world of slitherlink, a cool style with simple rules. the wikipedia link has some solving tips if you feel stumped

Image

Puzzle rules:

connect some dots either horizontally or vertically to form a single loop that doesn’t touch itself. A number indicates how many of the four possible edges are used in the loop.
