I think this got shoved aside when Xen's thesis happened. However, I expect he'll continue working on this pretty soon.

Yeah, pretty much.

I need a few days to recover, but beyond that I can start doing other things I enjoyed like playing video games and spending many hours in an evening working on silly hacks.

So what's next on the list of things to do for this?

Is there a predicted/expected release date (to the public)?

No predicted release date, there's still a metric ton of work for me to do.

What's next is basically feature implementation (I've got a huge list), bug fixing (a smaller but no less daunting list) and asset conversion (Converting x0_000's delightful midis takes quite a lot of time to get them to not sound like arse).

Now that the year has finally drawn to a close and I have time to spend on doing things for myself, I should be getting back into regular updates again.

Yeah. Also, the War Room Hack II side project I am actually using to test out some new code and fix some bugs for Project :)

Needed a bit of fresh perspective, was getting stuck (it is an enormous project after all)

Looks like it'll be fun, especially those story segments. Is it a straight-up AW1 romhack or are you using some kind of revamp kit?

Nah, just take any estimate I give you and add 50%.

Also don't do a PhD if you want hobbies to get done.

12 months + 50% = 18 months
1 year + 50% = 1.5 years = 18 months.

..?

Would this start moving again if I promised to make some sexy naekkidboobs CO sprites for you?

And the actual progress is a complete re-code of the project to take advantage of a) ARMIps and b) I'm not as awful at coding as I was in uh, 2009? when I started it in the background.

Not yet, give me a year or so.

I suppose I'd also like to take this opportunity to note that I'm actively working on it, the recode to progress is almost complete and the code is a lot, lot better in quality. Much more modular, too :)

So, thanks to the peer pressure magic of Blaugust, I have endeavored to produce four updates for the blaug this month.

Here is update one. It's something you already have seen in the past, although much, much more refined.
