I have no desire to read two other entire comics to read this thing, especially when I'm not keen on the fanbase.

Gonna pass, I don't think I can enjoy webcomics anymore.

Re: so i just read homestuck.
Who actually reads webcomics here? I follow the well-known Gunnerkrigg Court and The Order of the Stick. And also the more obscure El Goonish Shive.
Re: so i just read homestuck.
Uh, I read some of the best ones. But I try to be selective.
Achewood, obviously. Octopus Pie. Wondermark. Hark! A Vagrant.
Isn't it funny that any of us used to think Penny Arcade was even remotely funny? What drivel.

Re: so i just read homestuck.
i think i've been reading questionable content for 8 years now.
i wish i could tell you about literally anything that's happened in the past 1000 panels in that comic but i can't.
other than that i like smbc

to be clear, i've read the past 1000 panels of questionable content. i'm just not sure anything actually happened in them.

smbc is beautiful
PBF started updating again which is fantastic
also i tried starting Questionable Content (got like 200 through?) but sort of stopped, it didn't seem bad but it did seem particularly good either

Re: so i just read homestuck.
the beginning of qc is about urban hipster early to mid 20somethings doing hipster things and working their personal crumpets out, there are early 2000s indie music jokes, the robots are comic relief, some characters are purely comic relief, etc. when i started it was during the period where the whole indie=mainstream cool thing was starting. it was a view into a world that i could definitely confirm existed in some sense IRL, but I didn't really 'get' it. the strip was quirky and fresh, i enjoyed the characters, etc.Joey wrote:smbc is beautiful

at some point (as it definitely should have if you want a 3000+ strip slice of life comic), it stopped being so much about marten (main character) and started spreading the love around to other characters. and then to the characters the other characters met. and then to the characters that those other other characters met, etc.
Re: so i just read homestuck.
oh tldr don't read qc now, i don't think the beginning ages well
Re: so i just read homestuck.
I simply couldn't read that anyway, it's too badly drawn, even the newer strips where the art has slightly improved.
A problem with many webcomics.
Skadi is a good comic. Awkward Zombie is good.
Also Perry Bible Fellowship, xkcd and Hark a vagrant but I assume everyone knows those anyway

Questionable Content is not worth reading unless you're already reading it and thus keep doing so through inertia.

I would recommend a webcomic called Ironborn (robots and magic and magic robots - it's cool!), but the site it was hosted on appears to have died

Grrl Power is pretty much the only webcomic I'm keeping up with. Flaky Pastry is neat, and of course xkcd, SMBC and PBF.
