We got 20 or so people that keep checking. Most of us are, however, too lazy to make new topics.

Yeah, but I've played too much competetive battling for my own good. Dragonite's good, however hydreigon has a better stats spread, plus he looks better.
Emerald was the best game though.

Re: 10

Postby Dragonite » Tue Mar 03, 2015 10:48 pm

Ooooh, it's on. Pokenerd time

Spoiler: show
Hydreigon looks pretty nice yes, those purple flaps look somewhat odd. It's good, not a favorite. Dragonite is still somewhat unique for being the only ''nice'' looking pseudo until Goodra appeared. Nowadays I see the point of his Barney problem, and Dragonair looks a lot sleeker, but still, it does it's job. Iris' Dragonite from the anime also helped his image a bit(by being grumpy).

Dragonite has less effective raw stats and typing, however, he does have one of the best defensive abilities, which make him set up very easily, and it suddenly makes it's stats work far better then before, as it can use all that bulk and it's high attack effectively compared to Dragonite-SWEEPERREVISION, AKA Salamence. They aren't that easily compared in terms of roles, Hydreigon is a more special/mixed sweeper, while Dragonite is a bulky sweeper. Draggy has a ton of support moves too.

Hydreigon used to be pretty decent, but his fairy problem makes him objectively worse then Dragonite now. They have the special defense to tank his best attacks, and then he's hit with 4X effective fairy attacks, with no way to reduce it like Dragonite has.In Smogon it actually dropped in tiers as a result. .. And I don't even play competive(I'm to insecurish/have issues with pokemon's ingame with how to prepare for it)

Prime Bbcode Spoiler Show Prime Bbcode Spoiler: Poke responce
Got to agree on salamence, give him a choice scarf and with Black and White dream abilities; moxie (Who in game freak wanted to give him an ability that raises attack for very KO'd pokemon? ). Add some Speed and Atk EV's and he's overpowered.
Dragonite is a very good bulky sweeper with hurricane now though, that was a great move to give him.

The best combo however is weavile, with beatup (in double battles) and a terrakion with justify (raises attack if hit with dark type moves). Weavile being a fast jerk can attack your own terrakion raising his attack 6 times (he beats himself up somehow). Then use rock slide and voila.

(Or there's breloom, add spore, focus punch, subsitute and leech seed and start trolling. He's fast so spore (sleep) > subsitute > leech seed > focus punch. If they wake up make them sleep again with spore due to the substitute protecting him.)
