Apart from risking an escape using only negative rolls and no Drive stat, Lad could try ditching the truck in the northeast zone and making use of his... 2 in Stealth.

I do not trust strange and coincidental turns of fate, but that is just me.

It seems like the east gate has yet to be fortified so if you want to escape, now would be the time.

So here he was in a fudge lorry in the middle of some freakin' military nest where the queen bee bred plants that made people explode. Honestly, he had witnessed so much he wouldn't regret getting himself killed. He wouldn't last much longer, he had to get out of here and soon. The gods had played their game, if it was time to leave the board; their will be done. He slammed his foot on the pedal and aimed for the gate he saw in the eastern wall, planning to duck down once he entered firing range of the black coats. He would either get through with a stroke of luck, or he'd be known as that prisoner kid that assassinated an officer then kamikaze'd his way towards a gate only to get mowed down by the local guards.

At least his life hadn't been boring.

Summer is in the garage. Valerie and Bittman are in the corridor.

Teddy is outside the central building. He sees a runaway truck moving towards the east gate while Black Hole soldiers are desperately firing towards it.

The guards stationed at the gate are firing full auto and the windshield explodes around Lad. Lad is out of hit points. Any failed defence rolls from now on will result in consequences.

The loudspeakers crackle again and Adder's voice can be heard echoing over the compound. "Heh heh heh... I'm going to enjoy breaking you!"

Image

Adder uses 1 Fate Point to invoke Sideslip. All Black Hole soldiers will act with +1 initiative next turn and they will also have the ability to move between zones and attack.

In summary this whole fight has been pretty painful to read, especially since I just reread Narts clear hint about this situation needing a stealth approach. Is is possible that a total party kill happens here?(except lad, who will probably escape wounded at this point).

I also suppose things are going like this since everybody is using rolls and fate points to muscle a normally unreasonable result, which Nart is punishing with hit point losses(especially lad and summer)

If anything I feel people aren't using Fate points enough.

Most hit point losses are because people failed their combat defence rolls.

All rightyyyyy well! It's suicide to pop down a bunker with enemy soldiers in it, so no way they're gonna follow us down here. And if they do, well! They'll BLOW UP from all the friggen BOMBS all over this place!! Ha HA!!!!! Haha... heh. Uh, anyway! So if they're any kind of smarts they'll go through the garage door, where we can shoot em down good with Rudy. Yep. That's my backup plan. OR OR OR we just, like, bail. Yeah come out the way you guys came, tail between the legs. I'm cool with that too. It seems less "horrible last stand" ya know? Yeah... whatcha think?

Valerie throws to Summer some of her HEALING BREAD. stunt used or whateva

Valerie has the ability to conjure HEALING BREAD out of nowhere in exchange for a fate point. It's one of her stunts.

Technically it should be an Extra rather than a Stunt, though, if I've understood things correctly. But w/e we're playing fast and loose with rules anyway. fudge the police.

Summer isn't actually wounded though. She's just tired or "out of luck" or whatever. Actually healing bread should be anti-stress bread or something, so that it can restore HP instead of healing injuries because that's kind of silly even if Valerie's a magician.

You aren't in the same zone, but in this instance you could say you left some bread in the garage for Summer to eat. On the table right next to the poster of a bare-chested Olaf punching a two-headed shark while surfing a tornado.

Extras appear to be system-level in scope, such as adding an extensive gear system rather than relegating them to aspects.

Stunts on the other hand are just something that gives you a bonus on a roll based on a skill you would have anyway.

A special power that creates magical bread looks like something that would be an extra to me. An extra is any special power or piece of equipment that lets you do things others can't.

Anyway I don't understand this system. We'll probably switch to RECON or something for the next chapter.

Regretably I only took a percusory glance at the rule book at character creation; ultimately the system is based on simple skill checks but hinges on aspects to spice things up, something all of us could define better.

Interestingly there is an alternative system which uses styles of approaches rather than concrete skills which might coincide better with the emphasis on narrative shenanigans.

Re: AW FATE, Ch 2: The Terror Depot

Ehhh I guess it can be used to heal both consequences and stress points.

If you eat it you'll lose one stress (+1HP, basically)

When used to heal consequences, normal recuperation rules apply, however. From memory: Slight consequence takes 1 scene to recover, moderate consequence 1 session (chapter) and a severe one... uh, very long. Will have to read that part again. The idea is that even if these kinds of wounds are treated you will be affected by them for some time.

I guess I could let a minor consequence be insta-healed by the bread since they aren't supposed to be long-lasting anyway.

===The=Lad===

The Lad saw the muzzles flash as he hurtled himself along with the truck at the east gate. In less than a second the windshield shattered, sending glass shards flying everywhere inside the truck's cabin. He saw images of his short but eventful life too, things he wouldn't share with anyone even under pain of death. He instinctively ducked, feeling small fragments scratch the back of his hands and head while larger ones cut the seat and bullets slammed into the truck's frame. But the truck kept moving forward and so too did the kid. If he was going down, he was gonna take someone with him.

==BITTMAN==

Bittman heard Valerie's plan and agreed with it wholeheartedly except for the parts about retreating. Hmph! Is this how they train new recruits in this land? It crossed his mind to seek Valerie's CO and chastise his or her lack of discipline but that would have to wait. He could sense the enemy above was rallying to go after them. He also heard his new companion mention something about bread and realized he was hungry.
