Anyone want to battle?

Post by Sven » Thu Jan 24, 2008 10:23 am

RECENT EDIT:

Exams next week, probably not going to be playing that often.

I'm up for a battle pretty much anytime.

My only condition is that you have about a half hour free before starting so that we have a good chance of finishing.

I refuse to play campaign, and I really don't want to degrade myself to playing random.

Okay, well, I figured I might as well actually use my account now.

As for our match honey, I'll be on WWN by about 4 PM (lol school from 9:30-3:30 with no breaks whatsoever) which is 6ish for you, so just hollaback whenever you're ready dear. Just don't expect me to put up too much of a fight (though I'll definitely be more of a challenge than the randoms) because I haven't played competitively in, well, ever... Especially if we're playing on Whirly.

Oh, and I'm looking for more maps to copy for competitive play; so far I have the ever obvious Whirly and Pheasant, but I don't know what else, so suggest away Sven dear (or whoever happens to read this).

Most people on random are new players that never have played AW before,so don't be so harsh..
You know.. What you say is what your are.

You fail to realise how horribly bad most newbies are.

alright, was the best game i've had yet

you'll be able to take on everyone else no prob

User avatar
Treedweller

Post by Treedweller » Fri Jan 25, 2008 10:41 am

Oh, of course, but still, I made a ton of mistakes I won't make next time... Next time, I'll consider the most mobile unit for the map for the CO, I won't build missiles in a lame attempt to destroy your CO, and I need to set up better meatshields.

However, I'm not sure how I would've solved that factory/recon problem on that map... With Bikes around, FTA is changed a little, though I could've undoubtedly mirrored your recon tactic and just sent my own to your factory. Thanks for the match honey, 'twas fun.

User avatar
Sven

Post by Sven » Fri Jan 25, 2008 10:43 am

bike->bike->recon for me next time

send both bikes to the bases and send the recon as backup

your remix is definitely an amusing one

User avatar
Treedweller

Post by Treedweller » Fri Jan 25, 2008 10:45 am

I found it on AW BW lol. Bikes sure change the capture phase though... I mean, it seems now that that the focus is on getting to bases as quickly as possible with bikes while pretty much ignoring easily acquirable sources of funds, though it might've been that way in AW DS anyways, just not as harshly exemplified.

Sven

Post by Sven » Fri Jan 25, 2008 10:46 am

you changed starting props/changed a base to a city in the conversion. :)

User avatar
Treedweller

Post by Treedweller » Fri Jan 25, 2008 10:47 am

Oops... Is it still balanced honey?

User avatar
Sven

Post by Sven » Fri Jan 25, 2008 10:50 am

treed, we have a bunch of new untested COs, a largely different low cost unit tree, and 90% of my games are played on warroom maps with me as an AI substitute.

whether it's balanced or not is a minor concern :)

i think it's fine

a good thing to observe from that battle though is the charging. you really need to know what you're doing and have a grip on the game in order to get your power charged properly

User avatar
Treedweller

Post by Treedweller » Fri Jan 25, 2008 10:54 am

Yeah, and that's why a B Copter would've been a far more effective way to charge that... I should've just copied you, hee hee.

With that said though, I should've done that, and then built a large amount of infs/bikes/artillery so I could've used Isabella's amazing COP. Oh, and if you want to play on Whirly or something tonight, let me know, m'kay?
