Shin Sen Sluice, Kimmy.

CURSE YOU

But yeah, my general thought process isn't "get this property" or anything planned, it's just more "kill more units then you lose."

On some maps it works, on stalemate maps it really doesn't. It's going to take many games for me to get used to having to set priorities, but I'm sure I'll manage.

I hardly ever make plans to get properties other than ones that are clearly delineated as mine >_> In nearly every map, I just try to kill more than the other person and gain an overwhelming positional advantage as a result of a solid capture phase, but maybe that's where my weaknesses lie.

Shin Sen Sluice? Sven, you should have built a Gunboat. Those are Treedweller's weakness.

Stacking the odds? Seriously, Sven dear, I'd never do that, I just thought it was the only map I particularly felt like playing on because it wasn't a purely ground battle. The map is very basic property-wise meaning any competent player can figure out an optimal method of capturing at a glance, and the places to fight/defend are easy to spot so long as you have eyes. Besides, I don't give a crumpets what my win - loss looks like, because either way I'm learning.

Plus, I thought it was a common AW BW map, so I assumed you had played on it before.

Kay guys, I'm up for a game whenever, and map will be 'A Simple 1 Vs. 1'. However, I'm doing some readings for class tomorrow, and I'll be checking back every so often, so don't expect an immediate response.

i have a sneaking suspicion that with all the bikes we're going to need to reevaluate FTA counters or make maps to slow bikes down period

Also, my WiFi is down. Sorry, but no battle from me.

Yeah, you know, I was thinking that too, but I didn't want to say it but I didn't want to give the impression of being a sore loser or something from my other matches (though I have lost as the first player plenty of times, hee hee). Bikes mean that OS has plenty of opportunity to get places that BM can't, which can really affect the outcome of the game.

I think what we need to do is encourage mapmakers to come to WWN with some sort of editor so we can make maps specifically designed for DoR, because AW BW won't do DoR and AWN's DM section generally sucks unless you like campaigns. Of course, mapmakers need opportunity to learn the game really well before actually making maps.

And no problem, I should probably eat supper now anyways.

AWBW has a some small tiny topics devoted to DoR.
Custom Wars is dead until DoR interest goes down.
BHHQ is irrelevant.
GameFAQs is scattered and random.
Advance Wars Net is lol if you want a good game, nevermind most of their info comes from WWN.

I'm quite surprised to note we're probably leading the theory for this game, especially considering the amount of crap we've exported to AWN in one way or another. AWBW had a single topic where they jumped to their own conclusions about the game, but hey, I'd love to see where they end up.

It doesn't surprise me in the least actually >_> I totally expected WWN to be the only bastion of reasonable speculation about DoR because we have a fairly intelligent and reasonably skilled userbase about us, but what does surprise me is how little other sites seem to know about us. I mean, I thought by now WWN would be recognized for being the Smogon of AW, but I guess we need a larger userbase and a more recognizably elitist social heirarchy and stuff.

User avatar

I would call AWBW if anything the Smogon of AW sites. If only for the large reputation of putting out good players.

Also, yeah, you're quite right, AWN wasn't worth going for. Their proposed tournament maps are pretty horrible.

AW BW doesn't put out much theory other than some (very useful) map-making stuff, but I guess I see your point.

And just out of curiosity, how did the diplomatic thingy end up going?

5 is the most maps you can transfer at once, aye?

I'll just make five maps, send them to you, you delete the 4 worst and keep the one you think would play the best.

There's bound to be something playable in what I send.

At the same time, you send me five AWBW maps.

After that we play.

Yeah, five is the most at one time dear; that sounds good though, so I'll see you later today.

Wow, I like all these maps; they all look well-balanced, original and fun, so I'm keeping them all. As for our map, we'll play on that FoW mandatory one since I want to try it out. Just don't expect too much out of me in FoW at this point, hee hee.

The general point of that map is "hey look, I can see the crumpets that comes out of your bases, but not the sea or sky"
