Looking for someone to test against

Post by Delta_Angelfire » Wed Jan 30, 2008 2:03 pm

I need to prove myself on the battlefield, so I'll be up for a couple matches tonight if anyone's interested. I'll be running Tabitha to get some practice with her, just fyi.

Uhm, you don't do it via random. You put in a friend code and go to the 'Friends' option to set up a match >_>

Waylon vs. Tabitha on Pheasant. If you're any good, you should be able to kick my ass.

Don't criticize him until the match is over; for all you know, he could have a good plan in mind.

Yeah, but because he did that, he's handing me the center of the map.

yeah... I saw that. What can I say, I'm still learning to fight humans -.-;;

edit: It's been very educational though so far... I'm sure I'll put up a better fight against my next opponent. :-/

End day 9, I'm outnumbering him in units 22-8, property 18-13.

And you disconnected? GG, I guess... :?

End of game stats:

Waylon
Units left: 22
Spent: 88000
Lost: 12150

Infantry x3
Mech x10
Bike x5
Tank x2
Artillery x3
B-Copter x1

Tabitha
Units left: 9
Spent: 78750
Lost: 28400

Infantry x1
Mech x2
Bike x5
Recon x1
Md Tank x1
Artillery x1
Rockets x1
B-Copter x2

The rockets were built on the S base, then he tried to camp my SW base. Unfortunately, I overloaded it with 4 possible targets and it was destroyed in one shot by a tank with Waylon in it.

Tabitha was first attached to the FTA counter bike on day 1, which harassed another bike, then got destroyed by two tanks the very next day. Then he attached her to an md tank from the NE, which did nothing because I protected the N choke with three artillery.

Heh, don't feel bad! On small maps like Pheasant, many players used to eating the CPU for breakfast but new to competitive play often forget that there are actually three fronts going on and are often tempted to go with big tanks despite the numerous chokepoints on that map... enjoy the learning/growing pain~ :o

aw phooey... my router died for a moment. Sorry I couldn't give you a better game. Thank you though, it was a good experience.

Edit: on a related note - are there any kind of replays between good human players I could find somewhere?

Why don't you play him, sarcasteak? It'll be better for him to face people with differing playstyles.

good question

Also, I'll play you if you want. I'm in the same position as you experience-wise, so neither of us should get slaughtered if we have a match :o

Why is there a 2nd bridge by the NE neutral base and not by the SW one?

Yah, feel free to discuss the battle here real-time.

Heh, all of my Tabitha vs Tabitha match-ups have been comically amusing. Sure, I don't mind... as long as he can wait until Thursday evening. I have four papers due tomorrow (I kid you not), and since I've already played a match this evening, I think I'm done for the day. And pooey, I missed out on the sign-up for Sven's tier testing event; by the time I got there, all the COs I liked were taken. :(

Oh gosh, you guys haven't fixed that mistake yet? :P

It's actually supposed to be there, it's the SW base that's missing one

Sorry about that, It was a good game though none the less. You were quite strong in the center.

The SW front had me with three or four mechs, an artillery and two copters, and a recently completed bomber. I was starting to push back into his territory.

the NE had my Anti Tank, an AA, a couple bikes and an infantry Up against his Mechs, then late a copter and finally a MegaTank.

The Center was pushing strong though with a tabitha tank, two rockets and an artillery. I still had my half of the cities, but he had my east base camped by all three of the indirects, and was starting to hurt my NE front. I had two more copter on the way to fight them though.

Edit: My tabitha got loaded into a bike, but I forgot to do it on day 1 like I was going to. So instead of chewing up bikes near the NE base, I ended up with her near the center when the tank showed up along with the beginnings of his AA troop. She eventually ended up in the NE with a few captures and pretty much stopping the enemy expansion.

Well, I ended up forfeiting because I was doing terrible. He bcopter spammed early on and I didn't have enough anti-air, plus I kept forgetting to look at what he made in his airport :\
Made a bunch of dumb mistakes :(

As for how we played Tabitha, we were pretty paranoid about the other one's CO unit, though I did charge my CO range to 1 at the end via a suicide rush >.<

Valuable lessons learned all around :-) Although if you had played me before I played GipFace you would have pwned me massively.

BTW, playing against another human is very mentally exhausting after all those cakewalk fights against the AI -.-;;

tell me about it, lawlz.

I guess after playing a person once on that map you learn a lesson :P

Still, that was way better than some dumb random map with weather/fog and all pre-deployeds like in random battles >.<
