The Renegade Campaign

Post by 89305092R » Fri Mar 23, 2012 7:32 pm

Well, this idea just sort of popped into my head while I was putting a few new Black Hole COs into AW2. I wondered what would have happened to them in DS, and then it occured to me that it would be interesting to do a campaign about what happened to Flak and Adder (along with the new guys) during Dual Strike... anyway, this is the result of that random thought. Get some popcorn and enjoy the show!

Mission 1: The Hunted

You are Flak as Black Hole (Blue Moon) fighting Jugger as the Bolt Guard (Black Hole). Fog of War is off and the AI is set to strike.

Image

Start:
Jugger: Enemy forces located. Query: size of enemy forces?
BH Soldier: It looks like a small squad, Commander Jugger.
Jugger: Tactical analysis complete. Enemy is unable to withstand Jugger. Initiate eradication protocol.
BH Soldier: Yes, sir!

Flak: Whuh- they found us?
Veto: The Bolt Guard won’t stop until we’re dead, you fool. Even you should realise that.
Flak: We escaped ‘em before. We can do it again.
Veto: The only reason we’re still here is because of Kestrel, and she’s not here, you dumb ape.
Flak: Grrr… I coulda done it myself. Just watch! I’ll crush them!
Veto: You’ll just get us killed! We should try to break through and meet up with the others.
Flak: Too many. Gotta smash ‘em. Gotta smash.
Veto: Brute. But we’re surrounded, and we’ve got to break out somehow…

Black Hole Turn 1:
Flak: Hah! I’ll show you who’s boss!

Bolt Guard Turn 1:
Jugger: Enemy CO identified as Flak of Black Hole. Skill level insufficient to alter battle outcome. All forces, attack.

Victory:
Jugger: Jugger’s force: annihilated. Enemy: powerful. All systems, regroup.
Flak: Yes! No one can match Flak’s power!
Veto: You barely won, you lug. Why don’t you ever listen to me?
Flak: Quit whining, Veto. We smashed ‘em good. You’re just mad you ‘aint the hero.
Veto: …

Defeat:
BH Soldier: We’ve taken care of all the rebels here, sir!
Jugger: Only two out of five rebel commanders present. Imperative all are eliminated. Move out.
BH Soldier: Yes, Commander Jugger!

Notes:
Veto is a Black Hole CO who's still a little inexperienced, but very talented. She is widely regarded as a rising star, but is still regarded as below most other COs, except Flak, of course. She's arrogant and headstrong, but by no means foolish. I'll put up more when you actually play as her (should be in the next mission...).
When adventure knocks, answer the door.
When war comes calling, hit the floor.

Hmm, 2 Inf, 1 Mech, 1 APC, 1 Arty, 2 Tanks, 1 A-Air and 1 MDtank against 2 Mechs, 1 Recon, 3 Artys, 3 Tanks, 1 A-Air, 1 B-Copter, 1 Rocket, 1 MD and 1 Neotank ... reminds me a bit of AW1 Advance Campaign...and those were only possible because the AI was stupid...this mission looks pretty hard for being the first one but I think I could beat it (at least if I don't get too much bad luck with Flak)

Done in 11 days, using AW2 with Xen's hack (Flak vs Flak). Lost only the mech and the AA. Still not completely accurate to set a timelimit in AWDS, and you will need several runthroughs, but I'm sure it is possible.

Something important is however, that the AI places his Artillery and Battle Copter on such a way, that the artillery doesn't protect the Battle Copter against your AA.
My sig is a void.

Well, my apologies for the delay in getting this up... I was intending on doing an update every week, but my laptop had a slight bout with death last week. Anyway, I'm back in business now, and so things should proceed smoothly from here. In any case, on with the show!

Mission 2: No Respite

This time, you're using Veto against Jugger, with the same clear weather and lack of fog as before. To win, place a unit on top of your HQ.

Some details on Veto:
Image

Day to Day: A defensive specialist, all of Veto's units have 90/115 stats.
Power Bar: :smallstar: :smallstar: :smallstar: :smallstar: :bigstar: :bigstar:
Power - Shield Wall: All units gain 90/140 stats.
Super - Gray Dawn: All units gain 90/150 stats. They also gain pre-emptive counters.

On Start:
Veto: Flak, hurry up! Our force is badly under strength after the last battle. We need to meet up with the others!
Flak: But if I smashed ‘em, they ‘aint coming back. Right?
Veto: Now that they’ve found us, they’ll just send more troops. Or have you forgotten that unlike us, they have an entire army to use?
Flak: Yeah, I remember. So we’ve gotta be fast.
Veto: Yes. We’ve got to get through the mountains as soon as – wait! What’s that?
Flak: Huh – how’d they get in front of us?
Veto: Oh, this is bad.
Flak: Nothin’ for it. We gotta smash ‘em here, too.
Veto: If you can’t say anything smart, don’t bother talking. There are too many of them.
Flak: You got a plan?
Veto: Maybe we can run their blockade, if we’re quick enough. If I can just get a unit to the HQ…

Bolt Guard Day 1:
Jugger: Jugger reinforcements arrived. Now running program: mass destruction.exe. System tuned to deliver maximum pain.

Victory:
Veto: We’re past the mountains! Keep going, as fast as possible!
Flak: How can we win if we barely crushed anything…
Jugger: Enemy has eluded Jugger. File under paradox, and prepare pursuit.

Defeat:
Jugger: Victory was inevitable. Jugger mood setting: entirely unsurprised. Enemy is to Bolt Guard what mouse is to cat.

When war comes calling, hit the floor.

I guess this is winnable. Build a T-copter ASAP and make a rush for your HQ.
Vital is that your infantry units won't be damaged on Day 1 though. On ground it cannot be done as your units cannot reach your HQ in time.
My sig is a void.
